Eden Turned 16 in Sanibel!

Image
I had a rough day. So...who cares? It happens. I cry. And I move on. Happy Sunday! I am hoping for a better week. How can I complain with this kid by my side?!! Two things:  1) I started sobbing spontaneously and uncontrollably in his presence. And when I said I’m sorry I don’t know why, he said, “It’s probably, Jesse.” How can a 7yo be so intuitive?!!!  2) I took him out of school early this week. He told his teacher he knew why, but it was “private”. I asked. He legitimately thought I pulled him out of school for Pokemon Go. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.  (Gotta catch em all!)  “My delight” turned 16 in Sanibel without me.   . But she managed to make it special by giving her brothers money for treats and arranging a synced Disney + family movie night. And she chose one of my personal faves...WALL-E.   . How am I so fortunate?!! And this. My first. My tree-climbing Tarzan. My Pet-inarian. How much longer do you think I can keep her around? She is so strong and competen

Hair Cuts and Bathroom Remodel

Image
Oh my! I am watching all the Spring Break travel photos and thinking how I’m slaving away in this bathroom remodel all day. (Can I get a little sympathy?) I mean...well ok. Mostly Matt is slaving away, and I come by to help when it’s convenient...but SOMEBODY has to maintain the home. Am I right?!! I put my girls on a plane to my dream vacation this afternoon...meanwhile, I learned to cut tile and am getting quite good at it. (Can you believe he allows me to participate in such ways?!!! Forget about careless and clueless...let’s start calling me Careful Kristen. How bout that?!) Since Matt is slaving away...seriously...all day every day for 2 weeks now!   ..... I decided to give him a break on the diy cuts. The boys had their first haircut out of the house (or neighbor’s)! They were amazed at how quick it was...and they are officially sold on the Great Clips experience! I mean...their Dad definitely has talent!...b ut it is painfully slow and calculated. After all...he i

Welcome Spring! Fun at Penguin Park

The O’Haras have been privileged to better weather (prior to this weekend!) and better days. My heart is slowly coming around and recovering...despite having a few flash-from-the-past moments. Last weekend was a three in a row I was SERIOUSLY dreading. Too much to do on my own (and a busy week to follow). But...Dillon had baseball practice on Saturday, and someone had to take him and pick him up. So... Evan and I took the two hour opportunity to head to Penguin Park, which is near the field (and on the way home from school...he has been asking A LOT!). I would never have taken the time, given the workload. And it was THE BEST! I have been coming here since I was a little girl and my dentist was across the street! It was early and not nearly as crowded, and we met some really fun people...including a very proficient 9 yo VERY LOUD obscenity rapper. I wish I had taken the time to ask about his family life. Since then...Matt is off on “vacation” for like 14 days!! We’ve been marching t
